NEW EVENTS COME TO CURWOOD COUNTRY FOR 2010
This year, in addition to the many activities you have come to enjoy over
our 33 year history, we offer several new events for you and your family.
Ultimate Air Dogs, the premier dock jumping organization, will provide
four days of free entertainment featuring teams from across the country in
this fun-filled competition. This will be setup on Exchange Street right
across from the Chamber of Commerce. For show times see our Event tab
as well as http://ultimateairdogs.net/ .
In the Big Tent on Wednesday evening come down and enjoy the Revival
of the Owosso Swing Band as we help the Owosso Community Players
raise funds to rebuild the historic Lebowsky Center. Tickets are going fast
and are just $12. Gates open at 6:30 for this evening of great music
featuring one of the Owosso's favorite bands.
On Thursday while the kids are still in school, come on down and enjoy an
afternoon of Bingo hosted by our friends at the Arc Shiawassee. In
addition there will be resource tables set-up providing information for our
area seniors. If you provide a service for our Prime Timers please go to our
Application tab. Bingo starts at 11:30 and runs until 5 pm. Blue Cards are
just .25 cents or 5 for a dollar and Gold Card Coupons are available at
Owosso area merchants.
On Sunday listen to the sounds of Polka featuring the seven piece New
Brass Express sponsored by our friends at The Hetfield Group of Raymond
James and Associates. This family event starts at 3 pm and runs until 7.
Tickets are just $5.00 and free to those 15 and under provided they are
accompanied by an adult and are available at the Curwood Festival office.

Also on Sunday please join us in honoring nearly 30 living local authors with our "From Castle to Computer: Authors from Curwood Country" event. On Sunday, June 6, at least 12 writers will be selling and signing their books just west of Comstock Cabin in the arts and crafts area from 11:00 - 1:00. Following that, approximately 25 authors will be celebrated at a reception from 1:00 - 3:00 in the River Gallery at the Shiawassee Arts Center. Owosso Mayor Ben Frederick will make an official proclamation at 1:30 and the authors will be introduced. Light refreshments will be served. 2010 Grand Marshal
Dr. Richard Ball named 2010 Grand Marshal
The search is over. The Curwood Festival Heritage Parade Grand Marshal
Committee is pleased to announce that Dr. Richard Ball of Bennington
Township has been chosen as the 2010 Grand Marshal for the Heritage
Parade which will take place on Saturday, June 5.
The committee received 11 letters or emails from the public nominating 9
individuals for this honor. Charlie Keenan of Owosso nominated this year's
winner.
Charlie wrote "As I look down the list of previous Grand Marshals for the
Curwood Festival the quality of these people, who truly care for their
community, stands out like roses in winter snow. Our community can be proud

Festival time returns to Owosso, MI as we prepare for our annual festival to honor James Oliver Curwood, who wrote 33 popular adventure novels and who built Curwood Castle in his hometown, Owosso, as a writing studio. Join us this year for the RiverDaze Raft Race, Arts & Crafts, Flea Market, Playworld Amusement Carnival, Heritage and Kids in Curwood Parades, Volleyball Tournament, and a whole lot more fun for the whole family! The festivities are held the first full weekend in June. We look forward to seeing you there! |
