2018 Heritage Parade Grand Marshal
Bob Minarik
Friends, family and Curwood officials joined at the Knights of Columbus Lounge on a Friday evening last month to make the surprise announcement to Bob Minarik that he had been chosen as this year's Grand Marshal. In attendance was George Watts who nominated Minarik. George stated in his letter to the committee that he thought it was "high time the festival recognize all that Mr. Minarik has done for the community." Bob is a founding member of the festival and is still involved today with the Friday night's kids parade. Bob has served many rolls with the festival and is a Past President.
Bob is also active in the Knights of Columbus and United Way. Brian Reed, Festival Vice President and Grand Marshal committee chairman, said “it's always special to be able to honor a founding member of the festival.” As an additional surprise Reed called on current festival President Dave Minarik to make the announcement and plaque presentation to Bob. Reed says “it's extra special in that we have our current President Dave presenting the honor to a former President, but even more special from son to father.”
