Curwood Playscape Dontation

The board voted to donate $1,000 by the end of next month, with the balance donated after the June 7 through 10 Festival. The money will be designated for an “L” slide, which originates in the center of the Playscape tower (inset). That is the Festival’s latest donation to a community project. In the fall, Curwood Festival was the first donor to the project for a life-size statue of author-conservationist James Oliver Curwood, detailed by Rick Wheeler of Corunna, to be in memory of sculptor/artist Ryan Leslie, who had planned the project but died last summer. The Festival’s history of community fundraising and donations includes $25,000, which went to the Heritage Footbridge, between Curwood Castle Park and downtown, paid over five years from each year’s Festival. That is in addition to the tens of thousands of dollars Mr. Owosso candidates raise for their favorite charity each year – and the money the Festival pays to participating non-profit groups. Listening to Espich’s comments were (seated, from left): Nicholas Good, Brian Reed, Kaylee Luft, President Debra Adams Mills, Treasurer Jason Nequist, John Smith, Secretary Kelly Van Poppenlen and Owosso Public Safety Director Mike Compeau, the city’s liaison on the Festival board. Major donors to the Playscape project include the Owosso Kiwanis Club (evening group), which made a $10,000 contribution. Source: http://www.owossoindependent.com |

These are the revised Bentley Playscape Renderings that now include Curwood Festivals generous donation and several others. Thank-you all for making this happen for our youth.
There are only two pieces of equipment now remaining, as well several benches and picnic tables; please feel free to pass this along to anyone you know who might be interested in helping complete this project. |
