Our Traditions

The Curwood Festival is a celebration of the American novelist James Oliver Curwood in Owosso, Michigan. The annual Curwood Festival started on the 100th anniversary of the birth of James Oliver Curwood. He lived in Owosso and was a famous author and conservationist. Now, the Curwood Festival happens for four days during the first whole weekend of June. The 2017 Festival will be held June 1-4 in Owosso, Michigan. This year we will be celebrating our 40th Anniversary! We hope you can come out and join us!

In 1980 the Curwood Festival had its first Miss Curwood Festival. Now every year, a queen is selected to represent the community at speaking engagements and events. Along with Miss Curwood Festival, a princess and court are also selected to represent the community.
